The Story
Where the Light
First Spoke to Me
I grew up on an island where the light changes everything. The way the Caribbean sun hits the water at 6 PM — that golden, impossible light — it taught me that beauty is not permanent. You have to be ready for it.
Born and raised in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, George Armstrong Jr. picked up a camera around 2008 and never put it down. What started as curiosity became craft — and craft became a calling. He entered professional photography around 2010, learning through the work itself: portraits, weddings, events, and eventually brand and editorial projects.
George's approach has always centered on people. Not the settings, not the gear — the person in front of the camera. He believes the best photographs come from presence, patience, and genuine connection. When someone relaxes and simply exists in the frame, that's when the real image appears.
Over time, his work expanded into brand photography, creative direction, and editorial projects. St. Croix remains home — its light, its culture, and its people continue to shape everything he creates. He is available for select projects throughout the Caribbean and beyond.

The Journey
Milestones
Picked up his first camera in St. Croix. Something clicked — and it was never just about the image.
First professional photography work. Portraits, events, and anything that needed a photographer willing to stay present.
Shot his first wedding. Realized the weight of what it means to be trusted with a moment that can never be repeated.
Expanded into editorial and brand photography. The work became about more than documentation.
Launched GAJ Photography as a full creative studio. Photography, direction, visual storytelling.
Still based in St. Croix. Still chasing the light. Available for select projects throughout the Caribbean and beyond.
